Many people know exactly what they want to do in life, but simply don’t know the right avenues to take to get there. With so many different types of church worship leaders, worship leader degrees, and churches, you might feel overwhelmed. It’s ok!

Here are some simple steps to earn your degree in worship leading and become a worship leader!

Spend time in prayer and thought

Becoming a worship leader is a position that requires you to be a person of prayer. Be sure to pray and talk to mentors about your thoughts. This decision will end up shaping your future, so it is not somethig you want to take lightly.

Pray about what school to attend. Consider the community, chapel services, and the worship leading major that they offer.

Get accepted to a university with worship leading Degree

Going to a school that offers a worship leader degree is very important. Getting a degree in whatever you want to do in the future will make you more valuable to an employer and allow you to be the best possible worship leader you can be.

Be sure to look for schools that not only teach you in the classroom but allow you to actually perform, develop experience on stage, and give you opportunities to play in a church during your years at school. All of these opportunities will allow you to see who a worship leader is supposed to be.  Many Assemblies of God universities like North Central University offer all these options and more to people interested in a worship leader degree.

If you are in college be sure to not only find a church during your time getting your worship leader degree, but also perform in school chapels, and other on campus events. Plus, every course you take will help you hone your skills and develop your technical musical knowledge.

Graduate and Make Connections

Once you’ve completed the academic portion of your degree, it’s time to graduate and apply your knowledge to the real world–this is the part when you succeed.

Having a network of people looking out for you will help you become a church worship leader. Performing at schools, churches, or small local concerts while you’re still earning your degree can help you meet people who can help you in the future.
